Social Welfare Foundation of Hyundai Department Store Group

Hyundai Department Store Group established the "Social Welfare Foundation of Hyundai Department Store Group" in 2006 to conduct a variety of child welfare projects in a more systematic and professional way.

"The "Social Welfare Foundation of Hyundai Department Store Group" was set up with the private fortune of Honorary President Chung Mongguen and CEO Chung Jisun. Since its establishment, the Group has been able to conduct several child welfare projects more effectively, not in a way of doing them by each of its affiliates. Also, it has contributed to welfare improvement by laying the foundation where those neglected can depend to stand on their own feet and providing supports to social welfare organizations and centers.

Foundation’s Performance

Since its establishment, the Social Welfare Foundation of Hyundai Department Store Group has focused on child welfare-related projects. And besides them, it has gradually expanded the areas of its activities for, i.e. the low-income families neglected.

Foundation’s Business Areas

  • Child Welfare Projects

    The Foundation has a variety of child welfare programs for preschooler and elementary/middle/high schoolers such as supports of livelihood, welfare centers, cultural activities, education programs and medical expenses. It focuses on, in particular, the preschoolers and elementary school students going through the period of growth, and also continues to support child welfare centers.

  • Support for Single Parent Families

    The number of single parent families is recently increasing caused by divorce, separation, death of spouse, etc. and most of them have financial difficulties. The Foundation conducts the projects of supporting their livelihood and education to help the children in such families to grow with less hurts and eventually become the healthy members of our society.

  • Welfare Projects for the Disabled

    We need to take care of and provide supports to the disabled who need to overcome physical and financial difficulties and social prejudice at the same time in a more sensitive way. The Foundation has supported the livelihood of the disabled and conducted several projects for them to make society members pay more attention on them as well.

  • Projects of Supporting Low-income Families

    Despite the fact that Korea gets developed economically as well as culturally, there are still those worrying about very basic livelihood. The Foundation continues to provide supports along with several organizations to help them to get primary necessities and lays the foundation where they can depend and eventually stand on their feet.

  • Other Projects of Supporting Volunteer Works

    The Foundation aggressively conducts projects of supporting several volunteer works to help overcome the issues related to poverty, the disabled, loneliness and diseases and make society more prosperous and hopeful.
